North East Scotland Green Freeport

Delivering the net zero capital of Europe

The North East Scotland Green Freeport was a consortium between organisations including the Port of Aberdeen, Peterhead Port Authority, Aberdeen International Airport and local authorities that werw bidding to secure green freeport status for the region.

NESGF partners needed a visual identity and communication campaign to help unify the region and create a brand that stakeholders could get behind. It needed to capture the region’s ambition, positioning the North East as a key player in the net zero transition and moving away from the title of the oil and gas capital of Europe.

We identified key messages and created a vision that resonated with all parties involved. This included an impactful brand along with collateral, including a brochure, banners and social media graphics. We also developed a media strategy and stakeholder mapping programme, and created a narrative that allowed spokespeople to communicate the bid in a simple yet memorable way.

The brand identity brought the story of the bid to life and presented NESGF as a strong contender, capable of delivering energy transition and other elements of the green freeport model. We secured high quality coverage in local, national and industry press.
