The Full Monty’s: A night of insights and connections

While Offshore Europe 2025 took centre stage at Aberdeen’s P&J Live, the debate carried on well into the evening at Monty’s wine bar, where we hosted our Autumn Drinks Gathering.

The event was packed with clients and guests from across the energy and decarbonisation space – from operators and developers to tech innovators to international investors – and the atmosphere was every bit as lively as the conference itself.

In true Aspect style, we didn’t just raise a glass – we also raised the conversation. The event created a space for debate and discussion that captured the mood across the sector.

Guests spoke openly about the opportunities and challenges ahead, and a powerful consensus emerged from their insights:

  • Diversification, not division: The energy transition is not “oil and gas or renewables” – it’s both, working in balance.

  • Pragmatism in action: Many highlighted the need for practical, joined-up approaches that turn ambition into results, whether through CCUS, hydrogen, or harnessing AI to improve efficiency.

  • People at the heart: Guests reminded us that this transition must be done with people, not to them – we should draw on decades of hard-won expertise while empowering a new generation of skilled workers.

Conversations at Monty’s reflected an industry that is thoughtful, adaptive, and eager to get on with the job of building the UK’s energy future.

Here’s to more evenings where ideas flow as freely as the wine.

Solar power has moved from the fringes of the energy system to its very core at unprecedented speed. As global capacity surges and costs continue to fall, the UK has a narrow but powerful window to learn from international leaders, rethink how its energy system works, and use solar to help solve the long‑standing trilemma of security, affordability and decarbonisation.
