Location

What we delivered
  • Strategic communication
  • PR and media
  • Content creation
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Communication training

Ocean Winds needed to elevate the Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm from one of many ScotWind bids to a standout, credible solution for Scotland’s energy future. With planning decisions looming and public scrutiny high, they required a communications partner that could shape perception, navigate policy and unlock goodwill from a range of stakeholders.

Leaning into Ocean Winds’ proven record in the Moray Firth, we focused on building Caledonia’s identity as a trusted, standalone project which was distinct yet aligned with national ambitions. By combining messaging precision with stakeholder intelligence, we positioned Ocean Winds as a safe pair of hands and Caledonia as central to net zero delivery, critical to supply chain growth and a driver for economic success.

Consent confidence, built early

Caledonia’s strategic story was shaped and seeded to support and influence planning decisions and bolster support across stakeholder groups locally and nationally. We delivered eight onshore and offshore consent consultation events, attended by hundreds of local residents, elected officials and other interested groups.

  • PR and media relations: Managed external communications programme tied to key milestones such as scoping submissions, offshore surveys and planning consent
  • Stakeholder engagement: Built a tailored stakeholder engagement strategy including mapping, prioritisation and contact programme delivery
  • Political engagement: Created a political engagement framework including local councillor events across the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire
  • Content creation: Delivered a wide range of content from website copy and social media collateral to messaging frameworks and internal briefing tools
  • Communication training: Prepared leadership and key project personnel for public consultation sessions, local government committees and media interviews

Positioning Caledonia as a credible national asset

Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm stood out in a crowded landscape of offshore wind contenders. Engagement levels increased across political, media and community channels, giving the project a strong foothold as it moved towards consent submissions. Aspect’s work turned a complex infrastructure proposal into a credible national asset.
