The concept behind the Net Zero Technology Centre was to create a world-first innovation centre focused on accelerating the technology and energy transition in the UK’s North Sea.
Tasked with catalysing offshore energy tech - from decarbonised production to decommissioning and digitisation, the Centre needed to connect a complex ecosystem of start-ups, investors, industry giants and government. Aspect was brought in from day one to help shape the organisation’s strategy, identity and voice.
We built a cross-cutting engagement strategy that translated complex technical and economic goals into compelling messages for a broad range of audiences from investors and industry leaders, through to technology pioneers and politicians.

Branding the shift: from legacy energy to future technology
From brand creation to campaign delivery, we helped the Centre define its value across diverse audiences - demonstrating how accelerating technology adoption would unlock competitiveness, global influence and tackle some of the industry’s biggest challenges, like emissions reduction, production efficiency and technology deployment.
As the organisation evolved, we guided its transition from the Oil & Gas Technology Centre to the Net Zero Technology Centre, sharpening its mandate and signal to market.

Created brand identities for the OGTC and NZTC, TechX, the National Decommissioning Centre and the National Subsea Centre - each designed to resonate with distinct audiences while aligning with partner institutions like the University of Aberdeen, RGU and wider government investment and industrial strategy.
Digital experience designed for engagement and conversion
Developed a content-rich web platform that balanced credibility with clarity - making it easy for start-ups to apply, investors to explore, and partners to track impact. Every page worked hard to engage, inform and invite action.
Strategic campaigns to build visibility and trust
Planned and delivered multi-channel activity, across PR, reports, film, and events, to shift perception, generate momentum and show proof of impact across technical, commercial and political audiences.
