Haldane Energy is developing a new class of long-duration electricity storage (H₂-LDES) to enable a more resilient, flexible and net-zero power system in the UK.

Its technology will use surplus renewable power to produce hydrogen, store it in underground salt caverns, and convert it back to electricity when demand rises - providing low-carbon flexibility that traditional storage can’t match.

Haldane needed a website that could do more than “look credible”. It had to clearly explain a highly technical solution, establish authority with specialist audiences, and support engagement with policymakers, investors and media.

The team engaged Aspect to design and build a new website that showcases the technology, positions its value in the energy system, and describes how Haldane will help meet the UK’s energy resilience challenges.

Making the technical real

H₂-LDES is different to conventional storage – and getting that across to target audiences was important. The website needed to guide users from understanding the basics of the technology to the specifics of Haldane’s approach.

We developed the content using straightforward language, an intuitive structure, and visuals that informed without dumbing down. Every page has a job: orient, explain, convince.

Clear navigation and content pathways allow users to understand:

  • What Haldane’s technology is
  • How it works in practice
  • Why long-duration storage matters to the grid
  • What makes Haldane’s approach different

Information architecture and UX

We mapped out a site structure and navigation built around how different stakeholder groups actually approach the subject – from high-level context to technical depth.

Technology storytelling

We built page templates and content flows that explain H₂-LDES in a way that’s grounded, accessible and easy to explore – giving users the depth they need without losing them in the detail.

Design and build

We designed a modern, responsive website, built with an intuitive CMS – giving Haldane a strong digital presence that works as hard for a policy advisor as it does for a potential investor.

Go-live ready

We completed rigorous testing and optimisation to ensure the site performed smoothly from day one.

A clearer story for critical technology

Haldane now has a digital platform that matches the scale of what it is building – one that gives key audiences a genuine understanding of the technology and a reason to pay attention.

With a website built to inform, build trust and open doors, Haldane is better placed to make the case for its role in a more resilient, low-carbon power system.
